Alias Preserve
The alias preserve module is used to preserve URL aliases created that were updated and are no longer valid. For example, using pathauto, when you create a node, a path(path 1) is created for this node based on the node's title; however if the title of this node is later updated, the URL alias is also changed(path 2 is generated). Old aliased may be needed in the following cases:
- You Created a node and shared the link on another site(say drupal.org), then later on edited this node and changed the title; the URL alias for this node gets updated, and the old URL that was shared on drupal.org now becomes invalid since the URL alias is changed accordingly with the title.
- Search engines has indexed some of your content and the aliases has changed.
