Gatekeeper

Gatekeeper provides a method to allow trusted users (or "gatekeepers") to verify another user's real world identity without having to take on the responsibility of creating and managing user accounts.

The gatekeeper user generates a user-specific code which they pass on to the individual outwith the system, e.g. by a known email address or in person. The user then logs in and enters this code to validate their account and gain full membership of the site. This step ensures that the known individual really is the owner of the account created in their name.

Example use cases for this module are a site for a network of local clubs or an education-related site that provides services for high school pupils. A local club official or member of school staff would act as the gatekeeper and generate codes for known members or pupils.
