What it Does
A simple module leveraging the Google API PHP Client library to pull recent top content from Google Analytics.
Query is updated on cron, with top viewed content stored in a small table. Lightweight, does not require new node fields or frequent polling.
This module provides a simple "Most Popular" block, as well as a default views block associating node data with retrieved pageviews.
Why it Exists
Meant as a replacement for Radioactivity's more complex onsite tracking (which can have performance implications) and the Google Analytics Counter module, which pulls a broader data set and can require a lot of time for polling on larger sites.
Requirements
This module requires:
- The Libraries API module
- The Google API PHP client library
- A Google Developer project utilizing the Analytics API (Service Account credentials)
