Piwik is a free and open source web analytics application.
Some sites have a significant user base using NoScript or other browser extensions which limit ability to execute JavaScript.
In addition, some sites have a strict privacy policy which prohibits logging of browser metadata tracked by the Piwik JavaScript client (piwik.js).
This module uses an alternative syntax to setup Piwik tracking code via an image tag rather than loading piwik.js. A noscript tag containing the Piwik image tag tracking code is added to the bottom of every page.
In addition, if Piwik module is not enabled, this module uses JavaScript to track the referrer URL.
This module works with or without Piwik module installed. If it is not installed, you will need to configure a couple of settings in your settings.php file.
