Bot Social is a Bot submodule which listens for URLs for Twitter posts to be mentioned in a channel. When it detects one, it uses the Twitter API to fetch the “tweet” and echoes it back into the channel, saving everyone a click.

Conceptually, it could be expanded to work with similar services such as Identi.ca or the like.

It is hoped that this module will soon be in use for Druplicon, the bot which populates the most popular Drupal-related IRC channels; until then, if you'd like a demonstration of Bot Social, find me on IRC (username "Albright") and ask me to turn on my own bot so that you can play with it.
