Twitter search is great: you can pull out tweets from specific users, you can find tweets that contain a specific hashtag or keyword, or you can get tweets in a specific location.
But to pull out a good conversation you often need to blend together results of many searches.
That's where all current Twitter tools fall short and where Tweet Blender steps in.
You say:
Give me all tweets from my friend @joe that mention #bike + tweets from @jane that have keyword "fun" + tweets from Mike's @mike/super_crew list that were done around San Francisco. Oh, and filter out all tweets from @badguy. And don't let through tweets that have "spam" keywords in them. Limit my view to 50 most recent tweets. And refresh every 20 seconds to pull out new tweets. And if Twitter's famous fail whale is there, cache my conversation so I can still see it.
Tweet Blender answers:
Done!
A working plugin for WordPress it out there and have been downloaded almost 100K times (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tweet-blender/). A Widgetbox version is out there and is being shown 120,000 times a day on sites all over the world (http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/tweet-blender).
It's time for a Drupal version! This is under development and is in Sandbox. Launch ETA is May 2011
