Commons Message Notification Center

This module extends the messaging system in Drupal Commons 3.3 or later to support routing notifications to an internal notification center similar to that seen on sites like Facebook.

NOTE: This module is still early in development and is not feature complete nor is the code optimized yet. Use at your own risk.

Features

• A drop down notifications block similar to that on Facebook.
• Per-User configuration options for which notifications appear in the notifications block.
• Adds a My Notifications page where a user can view all of their notifications

Additional Notifications Supported

This module adds support for users to be notified of the following via the notification center.:

• When a user follows them.
• When a user requests access to a private group.
• When a group membership request is approved.
• When a group membership request is rejected.

Development Status

The alpha1 release provides minimal basic functionality. Some work items remaining to be implemented include:

• Implement ajax updating of the message notifications (currently they only update on page load).
• Refactor the notification system to be more administratively configurable rather than the hard coded support for specific message types as currently implemented.
