Purpose

The Blue Billywig VMS Media Integration module can be used as the only interface for every day VMS video workflow.
By using a secure "shared secret" token authentication system no extra authentication verification is needed.
Every normal Drupal user account that has "Create" and "Edit" permissions on the system can manage the attached Blue Billywig VMS publication's content as well.

Listed here are some use cases that describe the most common tasks.

Upload and embed an Audio or Video item

Go to any "advanced editor enabled" content type/field.
Click on the Media Browser button and choose the "Blue Billywig VMS" tab.
Click "Upload". The multifile file uploader will appear. Drag and drop a video or audio file on it from your local PC or laptop, or choose "Add file".
The file will be uploaded directly to the Blue Billywig VMS. No video or audio data will be uploaded to the Drupal system itself.
The uploader and VMS uploader backend should work for a/v files of up to 50 GB in size.

While uploading, basic metadata can be specified: Title, Description status (draft or published), and tags can be entered here. If you're satisfied with the entered information you can check : "Autosave metadata after successful file upload". If checked the metadata will automatically submitted and related to the uploaded media file.  If unchecked you need to press "Save" manually after a successful upload. In both cases the newly ingested media-clip will be submitted and an Embedding screen will be shown.

In the Embedding screen you can select a playout for the selected media-clip. Otherwise the default playout will be used. Click on submit. The item will be embedded in the appropriate content field.

Search and select an existing media-clip

Go to any "advanced editor enabled" content type/field.
Click on the Media Browser button and choose the "Blue Billywig VMS" tab.

Enter a search phrase: a word or sentence from the title, description, tags, id etc. 

Click "Search" The search results will be listed immediately. Select the media-clip you want to use by clicking on it's title. Scroll down to find the "Submit" button and click it to get to the Embedding screen.

In the Embedding screen you can select a playout for the selected media-clip. Otherwise the default playout will be used. Click on submit. The item will be embedded in the appropriate content field.

 

Edit the metadata of a Blue Billywig audio or video clip from Drupal

Go to Content/Files and find a Blue Billywig clip. Click on "edit".

The most recent version of the clip's metadata will automatically be fetched from the VMS.
A form in the familiar Drupal look and feel will be presented. The following metadata fields and information are available:

Name

The name corresponds to the Blue Billywig clip title (called "Title" in the VMS Dashboard).

Active thumbnail

The active or default thumbnail will be shown.

VMS read only info fields

The VMS clip ID (Mediaclipid), VMS first published date and VMS created date will be shown.

Status

The Blue Billywig VMS clip status can be switched to "Published" to make it available publicly, or "Draft" to unpublish it.

Embargo

An embargo can be activated, that is: the moment a VMS clip should be published and the moment it should be retracted/unpublished can be entered here.

Description

A descriptive summary of the media-clip.

Author

The name of the creator of the media-clip.

Copyright

Copyright information about the media-clip

Tags

Tags/keywords about the media-clip. Enter one tag per line.

Deeplink

The "home url" of the media-clip. This field is used for social networks and SEO (video sitemap).

Thumbnails

All related thumbnails are related here. Tick mark the thumbnail that should be used as the "default" thumbnail. 
This thumbnail will be the main representation of the media-clip.
