Collapse Comments applies a themeable button to hide/show comments and comment threads using Javascript. It is recommended that you modify your comment.tpl.php template file to render the object 'collapse' inside the 'attribution' div, as any other divs will be hidden when the object is clicked.
This module is compatible with AJAX Comments, utilizing the comment wrappers that module produces or creating its own in its absence.
If you would like to contribute to this module, please feel free to do so. This functionality is something that I feel should be incorporated into core, as it is pretty simple functionality these days among websites.
