Documentum Stream Wrapper

Overview

This module attempts to provide content editors with the ability to include links to documents stored in a Documentum repository. For example editors can add a file using the file/add menu and then embed a link to this file in content.

At the same time, a use case for the primary client (so far) is to use drupal as a proxy between the browser and the Documentum repository for serving up the documents. Unlike remote stream wrapper that embeds a remote link to some content or a document, the embedded link should be a link back to the drupal site so that drupal can stream the content from the Documentum repository back to the browser.

As a design choice this wrapper uses the REST apis from Documentum (tested, but not exhaustively, with 6.7 SP2 and 7.1 versions of content server).

There remain some design items where a second (or third) opinion would be appreciated. These, along with possible evolution and improvement ideas are open in the issue queue.

Typical Usage

• Download and enable the module.
• Visit the configuration page and set up the details for the REST services for a Documentum repository (name, url, user name, password).
• Visit file/add and access the new 'Documentum' tab
• Choose to add a known object id OR to search the repository
• Click through the details on the file object.
• Use this new file as an embedded link in content.

When viewing content the links appear as /sites/all/files/dctm_files/... with the repository name and object id embedded in url. Drupal recognizes this pattern and stream the file from Documentum directly to the browser.
