The showdown module provides real-time markdown preview inline on the node edit form.
It makes use of the showdown library. As such, you will have to get a copy of the showdown library from my github account. See the README file in the module package.
This module is likely not ready for use on production sites, so I have not made a release. I want to make sure things will not completely fubar your site. If you're feeling brave, feel free to grab the code from Git. I wrote and tested the code for Drupal 7. I don't have any intentions to backport it to Drupal 6, but it's probably not far from working. Patches are always welcome.
