EveCore

Overview

This module provides the core functionality used to implement the series of modules designed to fully integrate the Eve Online community into Drupal websites.

Features

This is intended to be a key part of a series of modules eventually becoming a full installation profile for those operating player-run corporations in EveOnline or guilds in other gaming contexts. Eventually, portions of the project that are most generic will be separated out to be adapted and extended for other gaming purposes, as members care to participate.

This project is geared specifically toward player-run corporations, initially, to be extended to alliances eventually. All the Eve Online Integration modules will depend upon this module, which in turn depends on the litwol's existing module, EVE Online HTTP Tools, as well as EVE IGB Fixups and EvE IGB theme by bdragon. Both of bdragon's EvE IGB modules will need upgrading from version 5.x to version 7.x.

The module will contain code that is common amongst more than one of the planned modules. The current design plan calls for upwards of 15 separate areas of functionality, covering a variety of areas of Eve Online game play.

The module will handle importation of CCP's Static Data Dump to permit the Eve Online database to be included into a website.

After the code has been written and has begun active testing and expansion, I will be seeking additional maintainers to participate in the project.

Requirements

• There is one (so far) third-party library application that must be installed to incorporate caching and use of Eve's extensive API. That package is called Yapeal, a PHP application that has been around for several years, is actively supported and maintained, and is available download here. The package will contain additional configuration information in order to enable the modules to work more effectively with the application.
• The Features module will likely be needed to install the features of the package that will be developed as the project grows.
• Eventually, the creation of an Installation profile will permit the player-run corporations to create their own (near) turnkey website enhancing the game play of all their members.

Architecture

The project will have several components. Beginning with a bare Drupal installation, modules will be added to achieve basic function. Atop that will be this module. In conjunction with an app store to distribute package features that will be implemented individually.

This section will be important, once I get it filled in, as I intend to cross-reference the other modules in the package. I am also planning on using features module as the basis for each stage of the overall project, permitting interested users to install those areas of function that are most useful to them.
