A BRANCH from https://drupal.org/project/region_visibility to trial an experimental D7 port provided by Alan D. in the thread
#1177638: Drupal 7 port of Region Visibility
Branched from git region_visibility:6.x-2.x-dev to create a sandbox for D7 dev
SANDBOX ONLY - this development branch is destined to be merged back into https://drupal.org/project/region_visibility if it tests OK and gets traction there.

RE this module:
It does only what it says - allows regions to be toggled off per-path. (and also per-role)
This is handy if you want to, eg,
* toggle some pages to be super-wide and have no sidebars on a path-by-path basis.
* toggle header and footer off to present a 'bare' display
... based on paths alone.
For anything more advanced, I suggest you upgrade soon to the 'context' module, with allows you to build full logical display conditions, like "if user is not admin and content-type is 'article' and path is under 'archive/*' but not 'archive/index/*' then hide sidebar-left"
Context may be overkill for this task if you just want to cleanup a few pages... but it is a fuller solution if you really need to get control of your regions.
