The handlers provided by these modules tend to be node-centric, or otherwise not compatible with all use cases. The handlers in this module are global, taking a tokenizable input for URLs and other inputs.
It is advisable for this functionality to reside in its own separate module, as the site-building and security risks inherent in this sort of implementation make it inadvisable to include in the contrib modules themselves.
