Media Wrapper

Sandbox project to create a media field formatter than can handle ANY media type based on the media module.

This means users can upload or embed images/files/video all in the same field and change the display settings per content type rather than having to tie a field to a particular file type as per the current media/field formatter relationship.

This module provides a media field collection for all the media related fields along with a custom field formatter for the media field itself. Out of the box this provides:

• Translatable alt and title tags
• Image and video captions
• Configure image link
• Client side adaptive images
• Cover images for videos
• Support for Youtube and Vimeo embedding
• Videos opened in colourbox
• Support for file embedding

This module does supprt image cropping with the Media module. The supported modules are listed here:

Roadmap short term:

• Re-factor the current code to not be an exported feature and allow it to be installed without requiring the field_media field is on a content type
• Re-factor the code to be more generic rather than the bits that have been added per project at SD
• Add in hooks at each stage so that this field_formatter can easily be extended (Check which hooks already exist for this)
• Lots of testing!

If this module gets a good amount of usage and people find it handy then we can look at the longer term stuff.

Roadmap long term:

• Potentially roll this functionality into the media module
• Potentially split this module out into a 'core' module with separate sub-modules providing things like adaptive images, video, etc
