The Extensions API is a simple module which offers some URL's providing JSON data about the enabled and disabled modules and themes and their current versions. Along with that the module offers the current Drupal core version. When the core's update module is enabled it also offers the update status.
The module can be used by external systems to monitor the extension usage and update status of the Drupal site.
External systems can retrieve the data using a configurable token.
