The VoIP Plivo module makes it possible for the VoIP Drupal platform to make and receive voice calls via the Plivo open source communications framework (http://www.plivo.org/).
In particular, the VoIP Plivo module enables the creation of Drupal sites that:
* Communicate with regular and Internet-based phone lines via the FreeSWITCH open source telephony platform (http://freeswitch.org/)
* Are accessible via SMS through VoIP Drupal's integration with Drupal's SMS framework
* Can provide phone and web connectivity "in a box," without depending on external VoIP service providers.
Currently, voipplivo.module is distributed as part of the VoIP Drupal module (http://drupal.org/project/voipdrupal).
The VoIP Plivo module has been originally developed under the sponsorship of the MIT Center for Civic Media (http://civic.mit.edu).
