Overview
College professors often are requested by their students to write Recommendation Letters to other colleges for contnued graduate studies or for research opportunities. Professors who teaxh graduate courses need to expend a considerable effort at year's end writing these letters and sending them to their requested schools. The information the professor needs from the student is often incomplete and needs several iterations of emails to get the information. Then when there are many requests, the professor must keep the information organized for each student until the letters are written. The Recommendations application is meant to solve or alleviate much of this burden on the professor.. It can be seen that this application involves a multitude of Drupal API functions: Forms, Database, file, email, node creation, menu.
Features
- Online entry of the recommendation request by the student. The student is led through steps requesting: student information, receiving school information and the course(s)/extra activity in which the student has attended which were conducted by the professor. The professor can access this information easily through  menus to add comments or notes regarding the student and the course attended.
- Automatic email confirmation and notification to the student and professor of the request. The student has the ability to further add schools at a later date.
- Automatic email confirmation of the request back to the student.
- Requires the student to enter information required by the professor to complete the recommendation.
- The professor is provided with a template configured with much of the student information within a Wysiwyg editor. A "Recommendlate Assistant" can then be displayed which contains tips and also a typical paragraaphs in a manner that allows each recommendation to be easily completed via drag'n drop.
- A Contact function which  allows the professor to easily store and access site addresses, userids and passwords for access receiving school contact information.
