This module was created during an implementation of Workbench, but is useful for any workflow system where ownership needs preservation.
Use When
- Revisions are used to track changes or moderate work
- All revisions, regardless of who makes the changes, should be owned by the original author
As an example, if you use the actual node owner as the author to display on your website, and an editor creates a new revision of said author's content, you do not want the displayed author of the content to change on the website. This module addresses this issue.
Usage
- Enable the module and assign the 'administer revision ownership' permissions to any desired role, likely just the 'administrator' role
- View the module configuration page, admin/revision-ownership/settings, and enable the functionality for any content types where you want this behavior
When you enable the functionality for a particular content type, all nodes of this type will preserve the original node author as the owner across revisions.
