This module integrates the syntax highlighter CKEditor plugin (that works together with Alex Gorbatchev syntax highlighter library) when using CKEditor module (https://drupal.org/project/ckeditor).
This modules relies its functionality in three components:
- CKEditor module, implements CKEditor plugin and uses some CKEditor helper functions.
- Syntax highlighter plugin for CKEditor
- Syntax highlighter library created by Alex Gorbatchev
Currently the module comes with updated versions (dated from 16/12/2013) of the CKEditor syntax highlighter plugin and Alex Gorbatchev syntax highlighter library. But can be configured to use external libraries if needed in a multisite installation.
Alternatives:
- GeSHi: performs syntax highlight rendering on the server side, whereas this module does rendering on the client browser. See the end of that module page for a fuller list of alternatives.
- Syntax Highlighter: Client side syntax highlighter. Similar functionality adding backward compatibility with older versions of the library. Drupal 6 version. Integrated with WYSIWYG module.
