This allows you to create relationships between any two entity. Sharing the field between two entities will show the relationship on both entities so there is no need for a 'backreference' module. Also, the relationship is exposed as an entity so that it be fielded too! Some work is necessary still for this...
It seems that Hookbox is more or less a dead project. There is https://github.com/hookbox/hookbox, but even that hasn't been updated in 8 months. I guess nodejs finally won.

The module is split in two parts: Generic PHP library that takes care of payments and Ãœbercart integration. The generic library can be used with any PHP program (it is GPL licensed) and we hope to get more contributors to it from wider audience than just Drupal community. The Ãœbercart part is naturally Drupal specific.
